It's College and Graduate School Admissions time. It's time to build your application and craft your story.
As a former Admissions Reader for an Ivy League institution, I have the experience and perspective to estimate how your personal story may come across on the other side. As a former journalist, I was tasked as an admission's reader with applying my integrity and objectivity :
: to assess the entirety of a candidate's application
: to see the totality of a person's experience, story and intentions
: to understand the holistic view of a candidacy within the context of thousands of other applications
: to make recommendations on candidates to be considered for an acceptance offer
As you're thinking about how to approach your application, I'd like you to keep three things in mind. The first one is this : the ask on the table from admissions is admittedly huge. They really want you to share your authentic true story.
The second is this : the goal is to craft a powerful and captivating personal story that is supported by, and resonates with, a tangible consistency throughout your personal statements, supplemental essays, activities, resume, recommendations and additional information.
And the third thing is this : a successful application will present an undeniably clear picture of your personality and your abilities, woven together so seemingly effortlessly that in its finality, it absolutely hums.
